Why content is shared on social media

There are many reasons why content like videos, photos, GIF’s, animations, memes etc are chosen to be shared on social media. Here are 3 main reasons

- Content is shared to create a positive response from others. That may be to laugh, reminisce, excite, motivate or dream, content is often forwarded to friends or family to evoke a happy response.
- Content is shared to build one’s personal brand. Videos and photos shared to personal pages are often carefully curated to provide a narrative to one’s online persona.
- Sharing content builds relationships. Sharing lighthearted content with new online connections, can slowly build mutual interests, a rapport and a virtual relationship history.
